Billing and Fee Framework

In my practice, the costs for speech therapy services are based on a clear and fair fee framework. For privately insured patients, there are no standardized tariff agreements, which is why a billing range of 1.8 to 2.3 times the highest rate of the statutory health insurance has been established in practice. This approach has been repeatedly confirmed by courts.

A detailed overview of my current fees (price list) can be found here.

In my pediatric speech therapy practice, I base my billing on the established principles of the fee agreement from the GKV-Spitzenverband. For private patients, I charge the 1.8 times rate of the set fees for voice, speech, language, and swallowing therapy. This multiplication factor is common within private honorariums and is based on the individual quality of service, time commitment, and specialization of my practice.
  • The compensation agreement for 2025 under § 125 SGB V can be downloaded as a PDF (German) directly from the GKV-Spitzenverband.

What Does This Mean for You?

The costs for your speech therapy treatment will be calculated based on the services provided. Upon request, you will receive a cost estimate before the therapy begins, which you can submit to your private health insurance. Please note that reimbursement policies may vary depending on the insurer. I recommend that you check with your insurance company in advance for the exact terms and conditions.

Reimbursement Eligibility

Many private insured individuals wonder whether and to what extent their insurance covers the costs for speech therapy services. Generally, most private health insurances recognize and reimburse speech therapy services. However, it is important to clarify in advance which conditions your insurance imposes and which rates have been agreed upon.

Civil Servant Allowance

For beneficiaries of the civil servant allowance the reimbursement is based on the maximum rates of the allowance. The 1.8x rate is typically within the reimbursable range. If you have any uncertainties, I am happy to assist you in understanding the allowance requirements and ensuring the costs are billed correctly.
